Cardinals Near Bottom of Offseason Power Rankings

The Arizona Cardinals are at the bottom of The Ringer's offseason power rankings.

Despite a 4-13 offseason, the Arizona Cardinals have gained some traction this offseason.

The new era of Cardinals football under general manager Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon has begun, and though no major roster shakeups have been made yet, there's a renewed sense of energy in Arizona.

Still, the Cardinals aren't expected to make noise in 2023 thanks to a variety of factors, but mostly the absence of quarterback Kyler Murray, who will likely still be recovering from his torn ACL at the beginning of the regular season.

That was the logic in The Ringer's offseason power rankings, where the Cardinals sit at No. 30:

Kyler Murray

"Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said the new head coach, Jonathan Gannon, was the best fit for the franchise because of his vision for their “elite quarterback.” Gannon, however, won’t have his elite quarterback for quite some time. Kyler Murray is still in the early stages of his recovery after tearing his ACL and meniscus in December and could be sidelined through the halfway point of next season," said Austin Gayle.

The absence of Murray is notable - for obvious reasons. Yet the Cardinals are also about to see 30 players hit free agency on top of potentially trading away wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills round out the top three of the power rankings. The Cardinals were ahead of just the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans at the bottom.
