Draft Expert 'Doesn't See' Cardinals Passing on Top WR

The Arizona Cardinals simply can't pass on Marvin Harrison Jr., says Mel Kiper.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals have a tough decision to make with the No. 4 pick.

The 2024 NFL Draft crawls slowly yet surely towards us, and even when draft night approaches, Cardinals fans will likely have to wait through the entirety of the first three picks ahead of Arizona before we finally see what Monti Ossenfort has up his sleeve.

Perhaps it's something crazy. Perhaps it's sticking and picking. To this point, nobody outside the facility walls in Tempe really has a hint of what direction the team will ultimately do.

NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper believes the Cardinals have quite the opportunity, however.

In his latest two-round mock draft, Arizona stays at No. 4 despite the quite loud cloud of chatter on them moving back and takes Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. with their top pick.

Kiper says he can't see the Cardinals passing on the opportunity to take the top receiver in 2024.

"I know, I know, I've been chalk in these first four picks, but I just don't see Arizona passing on its chance to take the top wideout in the class," Kiper explained.

"For me, that's Harrison, but Malik Nabers (LSU) and Rome Odunze (Washington) aren't far behind. The reality is NFL teams will have clear preferences for each position, so Arizona will know which receiver it likes most and should take him here. Kyler Murray has to get some help, especially with Marquise Brown leaving in free agency."

Receiver is arguably Arizona's top need after free agency saw the Cardinals heavily address the defensive side of the ball. Taking a top receiver with Marquise Brown and Rondale Moore still on the roster was already a favorable move. Now - with both gone - that appears to be the more obvious if the Cardinals stick.

That's where things get a bit murky, as teams could look to fork over some hefty draft capital to move up the board and take what could potentially be their next franchise passer. Teams such as the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders all have been hot names in the quarterback market.

Arizona - should they move down - could also look to repeat what they did in 2023, where Ossenfort traded down from pick 3 to 12 before jumping back into the top ten to take the guy they wanted all along.

That could be Harrison, Odunze or Nabers. Regardless, it's tough to imagine the Cardinals walking out of the first round without a top playmaker.
