DeAndre Hopkins Didn't Leave Cardinals on Good Terms

The Arizona Cardinals released WR DeAndre Hopkins, though not everything was clean from both sides.

It's been a few hours now, and shockwaves are still resonating throughout the league after the Arizona Cardinals released WR DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins - still considered to be one of the best talents in the league at his position - is now free to sign with any team of his choosing after enduring trade rumors and speculation for the past several months.

The Cardinals reportedly tried to trade him but were unable to find a deal that suited their liking, which ultimately led to his release.

It was a message sent by the organization that Hopkins was very much free to go, and despite some nice parting words from both sides on social media, it's clear that not everything was sunshine and rainbows amid his departure.

Cardinals insider Kyle Odegard is reporting that some in the organization were upset after Hopkins sat out the final two games of last season despite being healthy.

"It may have been a sticky situation if he remained with the team until the trade deadline," said Odegard:

During the final two weeks, former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury kept reporters on their toes with the status of Hopkins, who reportedly was suffering from a knee injury (Kingsbury said the one he had surgery on was "acting up" during Week 17) and wanted to be safe.

Kingsbury also said if things were different, Hopkins probably would have finished the season with the team.
