Details of DeAndre Hopkins' New Contract Revealed

Former Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins inked a new deal with the Tennessee Titans. Here's the details.

Former Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins is on to the third time of his career after the All-Pro receiver reportedly agreed to sign a deal with the Tennessee Titans.

Hopkins immediately arrives to Tennessee as the No. 1 receiving option with Treylon Burks opposite of him. The Titans were one of two teams to host Hopkins on a visit - the other being the New England Patriots. Tennessee reportedly made the strongest push for the 31-year-old wideout.

After his $19.45 million salary with the Cardinals was shoved off the table, Hopkins was reportedly searching for a contract similar to the one Odell Beckham Jr. received from the Baltimore Ravens.

Though he didn't quite reach the $15 million OBJ touched, Hopkins nailed a two-year, $26 million deal with the opportunity for his deal to work up to $32 million in total in incentives.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport revealed the details of how Hopkins can reach the full $32 million figure: 95 catches, 1,050 yards and 10 touchdowns will get the job done.

Receptions

  • 65 ($250k)
  • 75 ($500k)
  • 85 ($750k)
  • 95 ($1M)

Receiving Yards

  • 750 ($250k)
  • 850 ($500k)
  • 950 ($750k)
  • 1,050 ($1M)

Touchdowns

  • 4 ($250k)
  • 6 ($500k)
  • 8 ($750k)
  • 10 ($1M)

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer says the Patriots were willing to match the total, though there was a catch:

"New England was willing to match the max total ($15 million) for 2023, only with a far higher percentage of that total tied to incentives as part of an offer that, structurally at least, looked a little like Kansas City’s offer before the draft," said Breer, who also pointed out the Chiefs initially had a deal with $4 million in base salary prior to the OBJ contract.
