Chargers News: Former Bolt-Turned-Kansas City Chief Takes Dig At LA

In the midst of celebrating his Kansas City Chiefs' shocking comeback victory against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl this past Sunday, former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Drue Tranquill revealed why he believed his current club and the supportive atmosphere around it trounced his old team, during a live KSHB 41 News championship parade interview (h/t to Jordan Foote of Arrowhead Report for the transcription).

"Hey, this is way better than LA, I can tell you that much, baby," Tranquill said. "These streets are live, there's millions of people here. It's a special moment. I'm about to take your mic from you. I mean, my goodness. Miami, got 'em. Buffalo, got 'em. In a blizzard in the snow, in Baltimore. Can't beat them, big bad wolves, no chance! And then the big bad 49ers. Oh, coming in. Oh, this, that and the other, man. Big Red (Andy Reid), T-Swift (Taylor Swift) and the boys came and took it. We took it; they didn't give us nothing, and we took it. I don't even have a voice right now. I love you guys!"

Tranquill had been selected by the Chargers out of Notre Dame in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. He joined Kansas City as a free agent in 2023 on a one-year, $3 million deal.

Across his 16 available regular season contests with Kansas City this past season, Tranquill recorded 78 tackles, notched seven quarterback hits, logged 4.5 sacks and forced two fumbles.
