Chargers News: LA Cuts Practice Squad Running Back

Interim LA general manager JoJo Wooden continues to make marginal moves even as your Los Angeles Chargers' 5-9 season continues to circle the drain.

After it was revealed that Los Angeles had re-signed former standard roster backup quarterback Max Duggan to the franchise's practice squad earlier today, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports that the Bolts are also cutting running back Jaret Patterson from their practice squad to accommodate him.

After going undrafted out of Buffalo in 2021, Patterson inked a deal with the Washington Commanders (at the time, still sporting the much more entertaining moniker Washington Football Team). After two seasons in D.C., he latched on with Los Angeles this year, though he never made the team's 53-man standard roster.

Patterson racked up a variety of Mid-American Conference accolades during his college tenure, though the 23-year-old has yet to really carve out a big role for himself at the NFL level.

He was named the MAC MVP, the Offensive Player of the Year, and a three-time All-MAC honoree (twice a First-Teamer). He also numbers among the players tied for two major collegiate accolades, having secured the most touchdowns in a single football game with eight, and having notched the most-ever points in a NCAA football game, with 48 for that same contest.
