KC Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles: NFL Week 11 Preview and Predictions
The Kansas City Chiefs will soon be back in action, this time hosting one of the best teams in the entire NFL in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII.
This Monday Night Football matchup is a terrific one to close out the Week 11 slate, providing football fans with must-watch programming. There's plenty at stake for both clubs despite this being an interconference battle, especially considering that it could be a precursor for what's to come in the postseason. With the lights and stars shining the brightest, Kansas City versus the Philadelphia Eagles is shaping up to be a great one.
How will Monday's game unfold? The Arrowhead Report crew makes their predictions.
Joshua Brisco: Conventional wisdom seems to be that this game is a major test for the Chiefs' defense. While the Eagles' offense is excellent, KC's defense isn't the unit that needs to prove its value. One way or another, I expect the story of this game to be about how the Chiefs' offense recalibrated over the bye week. Will more of the offense run through Rashee Rice? Will the offensive line look more comfortable communicating and passing off stunts? Will Kadarius Toney be allowed to emerge from the doghouse and have his first multi-target game in more than a month? The Eagles could be the first team to break 24 points against this Chiefs defense, but I'm not predicting it until it happens.
Prediction: Chiefs 23, Eagles 21
Jordan Foote: Andy Reid coming off a bye week is hard to bet against, even when he's facing a top-tier opponent. The story of Week 11 has to be the Chiefs' offense figuring some things out after some time off, and this year's Eagles pass defense isn't what it was a handful of months ago in the Super Bowl. If Kansas City doesn't show some fight and a second gear on the biggest stage with plenty of time to prepare, it simply might be an "it is what it is" scenario. I'll give the Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce trio the benefit of the doubt in a seven-point win that sees the Chiefs cross the 30-point threshold for the first time in nearly a month.
Prediction: Chiefs 31, Eagles 24
Mark Van Sickle: It’s the Super Bowl rematch everyone has been waiting for. The Chiefs and Eagles are two teams that are very evenly matched again this season. Despite both teams leading their respective conferences in the race for the one-seed, it almost feels like both teams have slunk their way to 8-1 and 7-2 records. That in and of itself is pretty incredible and just goes to show how talented both teams are to be here at this point. The defensive and offensive line matchups will likely determine the outcome of this game, and maybe a turnover could be the deciding factor. I like the Chiefs' defense getting a critical interception or fumble recovery in a big moment and Harrison Butker kicking a game-winning field goal to crush the souls of the Philly fanbase once again.
Prediction: Chiefs 27, Eagles 24
Zack Eisen: It’s a Super Bowl 57 rematch in Kansas City. Both these teams sit atop their respective conferences and are coming out of the bye week. There is no doubt that Philadelphia will try to use what happened in February as motivation coming into this game. However, that won’t be enough to overcome Andy Reid and the Chiefs off a bye. There was an experimental approach from the Chiefs during the first half of the season, especially on offense. After a week to solely focus on self-scouting, don’t be surprised if the offense looks slightly different in terms of personnel, play calls and rhythm.
Prediction: Chiefs 31, Eagles 23
Conner Christopherson: It is time to put up or shush up for the Chiefs' offense heading out of the bye week. It’s one thing to struggle on offense early in the year when many teams are finding themselves, it’s another thing entirely to struggle in late November. Major personnel changes, better use of the current talent and a refinement of the running game are solely needed. If the Chiefs can dial in Kelce, Pacheco and Rashee Rice and build their offense off those three, the offense could potentially start humming again against a gettable Eagles defense. It will be needed as the Chiefs' defense will have its hands full with the Eagles' offense and their 100 mph fastball, the Tush Push. If the Chiefs' offense isn’t efficient then things could go haywire, but I will bet on Andy Reid out of the bye week.
Prediction: Chiefs 29, Eagles 27
Marlow Ferguson Jr.: It perhaps goes without saying that Monday night’s duel has “Game of the Year” potential. The AFC and NFC’s respective No. 1 seeds, fresh off of much-needed bye weeks and now, a chance to send a two-month-long message before Super Bowl 58. Reigning champions are 6-2 in regular season rematches of the previous Super Bowl, but the gut feeling is that the Eagles use those motivations to steal a win here. Few teams are willing (or capable) of exploiting the Chiefs’ one true weakness — the run defense — but the Eagles with a healthier Jalen Hurts are one of them. Kansas City should be the better team in February but in November, there’s some “upset” potential.
