KC Chiefs vs. SF 49ers Super Bowl LVIII Injuries and Inactives: Who's In, Who's Out?
The wait is almost over, as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will soon take the field in Super Bowl LVIII.
In a rematch of their meeting from four seasons ago, Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan's clubs will clash again on the biggest stage. This time around, both teams are quite different but have pieces from their previous championship game cores still intact. It's shaping up to be one of the best outings of the season, with plenty of star power and storylines to follow.
Surely, injuries will factor into Sunday's game. No one is truly 100% healthy at this late stage of the NFL campaign. Although having a bye week did help both sides get as close as possible, some players will still miss Super Bowl LVIII. It's simply a part of the business.
Ahead of the Super Bowl, the Chiefs' list of inactive players has been released. Here's who won't suit up for Kansas City:
- WR Justyn Ross
- WR Kadarius Toney
- RB La'Mical Perine
- CB Ekow Boye-Doe
- DE BJ Thompson
- LB Darius Harris
Wide receiver Kadarius Toney and left guard Joe Thuney (not listed but on injured reserve) will miss the biggest game of the year for different reasons. On Sunday morning, it was revealed that Toney would be a healthy scratch. Entering the offseason, the third-year wideout will have missed seven consecutive contests to end the year. On the other end of the spectrum, Thuney's pectoral injury suffered in the Divisional Round held him out of back-to-back playoff contests. The All-Pro, as expected, will miss the Super Bowl.
The good news for Kansas City is running back Jerick McKinnon is back in the lineup. Less than six weeks after undergoing surgery for a core muscle injury and fractured pelvis, the veteran was activated off IR on Saturday. A Sunday morning report indicated that McKinnon was tracking to play, which is indeed now the case. Elsewhere, rookie defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah is active for the first time this postseason. The first-round pick was a healthy scratch during the AFC portion of the playoffs. He'll look to replace some of the production of Charles Omenihu, who suffered a torn ACL in the conference title game.
Wide receiver Skyy Moore, activated from IR this week, is active on game day.

San Francisco's injury report for Super Bowl LVIII was mostly tidy. Only only player, defensive tackle Kalia Davis (ankle), was questionable for the big game while on injured reserve. Davis will miss Sunday's game after not being activated. Everyone else, including stars like left tackle Trent Williams (resting) and tight end George Kittle (toe), is a full-go on Sunday.
