Top Travel Destinations for KC Chiefs Players During the Bye Week

The Chiefs go into the bye week on top of the AFC standings, but where could your favorite players end up before they start the final stretch of the season?

The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up the first half of their season with a 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany. The win gave the Chiefs a 7-2 record into the bye week and set up a tough second half of the schedule. Looking ahead, there's some good news when seeing the tough opponents in the back half of the season: the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals matchups are at home.

There's also nice spacing between those tough opponents. The Chiefs will get the Eagles coming out of the bye, then road games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers before coming back home to play the Bills. After that, the Chiefs will get back on the road to play the New England Patriots before coming home to play the Raiders on Christmas Day with the Bengals game coming on New Year's Eve. Their final game of the season is on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chiefs currently lead the AFC West standings by 2.5 games and hold the one-seed seed in the AFC playoff standings. Even though many folks in Chiefs Kingdom have been concerned about how the Chiefs' offense has looked throughout most of the season, the defense has helped put them into the position they were hoping to be at during the bye week.

Players are human, and they need a break both mentally and physically from the NFL season. The Chiefs’ bye comes at a perfect time, right in the middle of the season. Let’s take a look at a potential top five travel destinations for Chiefs players during their bye week as they recharge for the second half of the season.

Disney World

Who doesn’t love traveling to the happiest place on earth? Generally, the trip to Disney World is saved for after a team wins the Super Bowl. But when the weather is getting colder in mid-November in Kansas City, taking a trip to Florida doesn’t sound like a bad idea. After taking in the sights at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or Hollywood Studios, there will be a few days to hit up the beach as well before getting back to Kansas City to get ready for the Eagles.

European tour

The team just played in Germany, but I wonder how many players wanted to stick around for a few more days to check out some of the historical and monumental places. Of course, they were probably able to get to a couple of places in Frankfurt, but branching out to more places in Germany and getting to a few more countries in the area could make for a good off week. It seems like the team traveled back together, so this would mean another trip across the pond, which may be more of a hassle than most folks would want during a bye week, but staying for a week after the game for a European Tour could have been fun.

Texas

We know this is a popular destination for the Mahomes family. Brittany and Patrick Mahomes have family in Texas and they’ve been known to enjoy downtime there in the Lone Star State. If you’re not paying close attention to their Instagram stories this week, you’ve missed seeing the couple attending a Dallas Mavericks basketball game and having some outdoor fun in a warmer Texas climate. There’s plenty to do deep in the heart of Texas, but some would say “home is where the heart is” and just having a week to relax with family in your hometown can be a worthwhile trip during a bye week.

Kansas City

Why would anyone want to stay in Kansas City during the bye week? Some aren’t big on traveling and really like having a week to stay home, chill and perhaps play Call of Duty. They can also enjoy the best barbecue in the world, visit one of America’s finest museums at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art or hit up a number of classic Kansas City hot spots. Enjoying rest and relaxation time at home can be just what the doctor ordered at the midway point of the season.

Argentina

I’ve heard Argentina is lovely this time of year. Whether you’re checking out Iguazu Falls, going to historical sites like Plaza de Mayo or just enjoying the big city life in Buenos Aires, there’s plenty to do in this beautiful country. Oh yeah, Taylor Swift is also taking her Eras Tour to Argentina this weekend. I’m sure that a certain someone may be interested in heading to this destination for the bye week.

No matter what these players decide to do during the bye, as long as they’re staying out of harm's way and not doing anything illegal, I don’t really care what they decide to do. Hopefully, they enjoy their time off and are ready to get back to work next week as they prepare for a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl.
