Wednesday Chiefs Injury Updates Ahead of Super Bowl LVII

Kansas City continues to trend in a positive direction as the week of practice progresses.

Super Bowl LVII week is getting serious, and the preparation for Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will only continue to ramp up as Sunday's game approaches.

On Wednesday morning, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had some media availability to provide an update on his team's outlook at this point in the week. To kick things off, he confirmed that for the third day in a row, everyone on the active roster is set to practice later in the day.

Additionally, Reid also gave more insight into the right ankle of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes is now two-and-a-half weeks removed from the high-ankle sprain that he suffered in the Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Reid said his star signal-caller is able to do almost everything in the playbook right now:

During Mahomes's respective Wednesday availability, he said that he's moving around better now than he was following the Divisional Round or heading into the AFC Championship Game. Both he and Reid have confirmed this week that he won't be 100% healthy in the Super Bowl, but they're also confident in the work Mahomes has done (and is still doing) with the training staff and believe he will be as close to that as he can possibly get for Kansas City's biggest game of the season.

Elsewhere, Reid didn't have updates for wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Kadarius Toney (ankle). Both players have been practicing with the team this week and are slated to do so again on Wednesday, and how they react to an increased workload coming off a light day of practice will be telling. The Chiefs' first official injury report of the week will arrive on Wednesday afternoon/evening. Here's a tidbit from Tuesday's update on Arrowhead Report:

On Monday night, wide receiver Kadarius Toney said that he'd "definitely" be playing in the Super Bowl. JuJu Smith-Schuster, who has been battling some knee swelling/soreness in recent days, is on track to play as well. Reid said that both pass-catchers looked good in practice on Monday and that the team will continue to evaluate their progress as the week continues. As of Tuesday, things are looking good for Kansas City's receiver room outside of Mecole Hardman going on IR.
