In this story:

The Kansas City Chiefs are back at home for a Week 3 outing at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and the Chicago Bears will be looking to give them all they can handle despite how this season has unfolded so far.

Through two games, Kansas City has split its first pair of contests. Week 1 saw Andy Reid's squad drop a close game to the Detroit Lions, and last week witnessed the Chiefs travel to Jacksonville and defeat the Jaguars after not allowing a single touchdown to Trevor Lawrence and company. Chicago, on the other hand, has lost both of its opening games and has had plenty of off-field drama to handle in recent days.

As is commonplace in the NFL, neither team is at 100% strength or health just a few short weeks into the 2023 season. Injuries will play some sort of role in this game, as both clubs ruled players out in advance of Sunday afternoon.

With that in mind, ahead of their matchup back at home, the Chiefs' list of inactive players has been released:

  • CB Nic Jones
  • LB Nick Bolton
  • DE BJ Thompson
  • OL Wanya Morris
  • OT Lucas Niang
  • DT Keondre Coburn

For the Chiefs, they designated linebacker Nick Bolton (ankle) and wideout Richie James (knee) as out on Friday afternoon. James was placed on the injured reserve list on Saturday, meaning he'll miss this weekend's game and at least three more thereafter. In his place, the team elevated wideout Montrell Washington and linebacker Cole Christiansen from the practice squad, and neither player is listed among the inactives for Week 3.

Three additional players were ruled questionable on Friday: wide receiver Kadarius Toney (toe), running back Isiah Pacheco (hamstring) and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. (quad). There was optimism surrounding all three players' potential availability for Sunday's game, and they'll all indeed be active against the Bears. Elsewhere, veteran offensive tackle Lucas Niang is among notable Kansas City inactive players for Sunday.

The Bears' inactives have also been released:

  • DB Eddie Jackson
  • WR Equanimeous St. Brown
  • DB A.J. Thomas
  • QB Tyson Bagent
  • RB D'Onta Foreman
  • DL Daniel Hardy

On Friday, Chicago ruled out defensive back Eddie Jackson (foot) and defensive lineman Khalid Kareem (hip) due to respective injuries that kept them out of the final practice of the week. Kareem has since gone on the injured reserve list. Offensive lineman Nate Davis was questionable after being limited in Friday's practice, but he is active for the Bears on Sunday. Notable inactives include wideout Equanimeous St. Brown and running back D'Onta Foreman.
