The Kansas City Chiefs take the field on Sunday afternoon not only looking to keep their in-season winning streak alive, but they're also trying to extend their streak over the Denver Broncos to a full season's worth of games. If they can get to magic No. 17 in Week 8, it will get Andy Reid's group closer to the 20-game mark the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins were famous for developing in the 1970s.

More importantly, Sunday's game is an opportunity to continue building on what's already a good lead in the AFC West. Kansas City has rebounded quite well after losing its first game of the season, with just one loss on the year being to a non-conference opponent. With a victory, the Chiefs would keep pace atop the AFC and send the Broncos to a lowly 2-6 on the year.

Ahead of their matchup on the road, the Chiefs' list of inactive players has been released. Here's who won't suit up for Kansas City:

  • DE BJ Thompson
  • OL Mike Caliendo
  • DT Neil Farrell
  • DE Malik Herring

This is the same group of inactives players as last week, with one notable exception. Wide receiver Justin Watson, who suffered an elbow contusion during the last meeting between these two teams less than three weeks ago, returned to practice this week while wearing a brace on his left arm. The veteran will play on Sunday, as will quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes was a late addition to the injury report on Sunday morning with an illness, and it's being described as the flu. Despite that, he didn't carry a game designation and will start for Kansas City.

The Broncos' inactives have also been released:

  • S JL Skinner
  • LB Thomas Incoom
  • C Alex Forsyth
  • NT Keondre Coburn
  • DL Elijah Garcia

This week, the Broncos had several players progress to full participation in practice by the time Friday rolled around. Running back Dwyane Washington, safety Justin Simmons, linebacker Baron Browning and offensive lineman Garrett Bolles were all restriction-free to end the week and didn't carry designations into Sunday's game. Wide receiver Brandon Johnson, who was limited on Thursday and missed practice on Friday with a hamstring injury, was ruled questionable but will be active for Week 8's home game.
