Chiefs-Bengals Week 17 Game Is a Perfect Late-Season Matchup

The NFL's 2023 regular-season schedule is being announced this week, with select games being detailed in advance of the big reveal on Thursday night. For the Kansas City Chiefs, two high-profile and high-stakes matchups were shared before the morning clock even hit 7:00 local time on Wednesday.

A Week 9 game in Frankfurt against the Miami Dolphins is notable, but it's Kansas City's Week 17 slate that very well could shape up to be one of the best games of the 2023 regular season. At 3:25 p.m. local time, the Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals in a game between two clubs that have faced each other multiple times over the past few seasons.

Dating back to an early 2022 thriller, Kansas City and Cincinnati have played twice in the regular season and twice in the postseason. Both of those games late in the regular season have resulted in three-point Bengals victories at home, with the AFC Championship Games being split between the two teams yet still managing to each be three-point final advantages on either side. This new-age rivalry is one of the NFL's best, and that alone makes a 'Patrick Mahomes vs. Joe Burrow: V' outing a must-watch on the 2023 docket.

Additionally, the timing of this game is nearly perfect. For the second time in three seasons, these two teams will meet in a Week 17 contest that could play a significant role in playoff seeding. With both clubs having Vegas over/under win totals widely set at 11.5, it's expected by betting markets that the two conference elites will maintain their respective statuses in 2023-24 and compete for high seeds for the postseason.

With the high-energy atmosphere of New Year's Eve added into the mix as well, it's hard to picture a much better way to help close out 2023's football calendar and begin to usher in some exciting NFL matchups in 2024. Chiefs-Bengals lives on, and both sides are clearly looking forward to the rematch.
