The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off one of their most impressive performances of the 2023 season, and the same can be said for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. As a result, the team's superstar signal-caller is getting some legit recognition for his afternoon against the Las Vegas Raiders.

On Wednesday morning, it was announced that Mahomes is the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12:

Mahomes was tremendously efficient on Sunday, completing 27 of his 34 passes (79.4%) for 298 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That completion percentage was his highest mark of the 2023 season, and his passer rating (122.8), yards per attempt (8.8) and adjusted net yards per attempt (9.94) were all among his top three. It wasn't the flashiest game for the 28-year-old, but he executed the Kansas City attack at a tremendously high level and engineered a comeback after being down 14-0 early in the game.

This is the first time a Chief has been named the Offensive Player of the Week in 2023, serving as the first of the year for Mahomes as well. With that said, he's no stranger to the accolade. The two-time MVP has now hit double digits for the weekly award, as this marks the 10th time he's won it: twice in 2018, once in 2019, twice in 2020, twice in 2021, twice in 2022 and now once this year.

While Mahomes remains the best quarterback in the sport and is posting some very respectable numbers, his stat line doesn't reflect what many have grown to expect from him specifically. Through 11 games, he's averaging career lows in touchdown percentage (5.1), success rate (49.6%), yards per attempt (7.1) and passer rating (96.3). The Chiefs' hope is that some stability within the offense will allow Mahomes to continue stringing together good games similar to the one he had in Week 12. If that was any indication of where things are headed, this may not be the last time he's named Offensive Player of the Week this season.
