The Indianapolis Colts lost wide receiver Ashton Dulin to a season-ending injury this week and cut receiver Malik Turner on Friday.

They signed former Pittsburgh Steelers starter James Washington on Friday afternoon. They weren't done as they announced they signed receiver D.J. Montgomery Friday evening.

Montgomery was with the Colts during training camp last year, but he didn't make the team.

More on Montgomery from the Colts' official release:

Montgomery, 6-1, 201 pounds, most recently spent time with the Michigan Panthers of the USFL. He spent time on the Houston Texans' practice squad last season after spending time with the Colts during 2022 training camp. Montgomery spent time on the New York Jets' active roster and practice squad in 2021. He played in three games and caught three passes for 36 yards (12.0 avg.). In 2020, Montgomery spent time on the Jets' practice squad. As a rookie in 2019, he spent the entire season on the Cleveland Browns' Injured Reserve list. Montgomery was originally signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2019. -- via Indianapolis Colts

Montgomery, like Washington, is probably a long shot to make the 53-man active roster, but they will get a chance to showcase their talent next week in the final preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Colts take on the Chicago Bears Saturday evening in Indianapolis, but it's likely too soon to see the new signings in action.
