Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has been placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list according to NFL reporter Field Yates.

The news in itself isn't overly concerning, knowing that a player placed on the PUP list during the preseason can be activated at any time.

Taylor wasn't thought to be suffering any physical ailments stemming from offseason ankle surgery. He had been bothered by the ankle through most of the 2022 season.

Though there had been talk of him being unhappy with the state of the running back market as he enters the final year of his contract.

"With Saquon Barkley locked in, all eyes turn to another talented back: Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, who has yet to show up in Indy," wrote Ian Rapoport on Twitter. "He was visibly frustrated with the situation on the RBs zoom call and it’s clear he wants to be properly compensated. A situation to monitor."

Barkley agreed to a one-year deal with the Giants on Tuesday morning.

Colts beat writer Stephen Holder from ESPN had this to say about Taylor and the move to the PUP list.

"Jonathan Taylor to the active/PUP list is different than what we were told this morning. Granted, he had ankle surgery in the offseason. But I think this raises some obvious questions that this is about something else," wrote Holder on Twitter

We'll have more on the news as it develops.
