Aaron Rodgers: A ‘Selfish Pig & A 'Monster!' New York Media Rips QB As Jets Play at Washington Commanders

Did quarterback Aaron Rodgers prioritize himself by accepting - or maybe even initiating and orchestrating - a roster move that this week saw him being activated from IR so he could practice, thus costing a lower-rung member of the New York Jets' 53-man a job?

So it seems.

Does the move mean "Rodgers is a selfish pig and a monster"?

In the overwrought and over-dramatized New York media, apparently so.

Aaron Rodgers Jets

"This is why Rodgers is a pig,” said WFAN’s Shaun Morah in an over-the-top rant almost clearly designed to be ... well, over the top. “This self-fulfilling, selfish, manipulating, dare I say 'monster' now, is potentially going to take a roster check away from Nick Bawden for the final three weeks, who did nothing but be a good Jet all year.”

New York is 5-9, so in a football sense, there is no such thing as "a good Jet." (Not that their Sunday foes, the 4-10 last-place Washington Commanders, have any room to talk.)

The Rodgers story, simply put: New York acquired Rodgers in a blockbuster offseason trade with the Green Bay Packers, but he injured his Achilles on the team’s first offensive series of the season and is out for the season.

Rodgers, 40, sees the rehab benefits of practicing with the Jets for the next few weeks before they pack up and go home. The New York organization, which has already bowed to his many requests (demands?) opted to concur (comply?).

The Bawden story, simply put: Bawden, who has played in all 14 games this season, was brought back to the practice squad on his existing contract. He suffered in no way here ... except that thanks to the Rodgers move, NFL fans have now heard of somebody named "Nick Bawden."

And the Morash story? He is trying to build his reputation in New York "shock-jock"-style; he is the same mouth who ignorantly trashed Jets quarterback Zach Wilson for spending time with his family during the bye week.

And by doing it in this obnoxiously cartoonish manner? It's rather piggish. And kind of monstrous.
