Commanders Must Draft QB Hendon Hooker, Bench Sam Howell, Says NFL Analyst

Hooker over Howell? According to one site, there's one perfect draft pick fit for the Washington Commanders that would have an impact on both real-life and fantasy football.

The Washington Commanders entered yet another offseason in pursuit of more wins the following year.

As of now, it looks like those endeavors will be riding on the play of either Commanders quarterback Sam Howell or Jacoby Brissett.

But 33rd Team says there's one quarterback who could help Washington get those wins, and help its fans get fantasy football points in the process.

That player is Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker.

From a real-life standpoint, the site says, "Hooker landing in Washington would signal the end of the Sam Howell experiment."

Indeed, as 33rd Team mock drafts Hooker to the Commanders at pick No. 16, there's little chance he wouldn't see the field as the starting quarterback at some point in the next 24 months.

In what would be a disappointing development for Howell to say the least, Washington would likely view it as an opportunity for the veteran Brissett to mentor a new young quarterback with arguably higher upside.

"Brissett was a less prolific runner in college than Hooker, but he would be a good Year 1 mentor," says 33rd Team. "We'd expect Brissett to start for roughly half the season before the Washington Commanders give the keys to Hooker."

That wait is what would give fantasy football enthusiasts pause when considering selecting him for their rosters.

But when the time comes, there's no doubt his own athletic ability would have a big impact on real and fantasy competitions.

And the weapons at his disposal with the Commanders would only serve to feed into fueling his rise to whatever his ceiling might be.
