Eric Bieniemy Getting Commanders 'Out of Our Comfort Zone', Says Ron Rivera

Eric Bieniemy has made sweeping changes in how the Washington Commanders' offense operates, with Ron Rivera stating it's good due to the players being out of their comfort zone.

Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has come into the organization and made things crystal clear - things will be done his way.

Now for some, that might irk them, but for coach Ron Rivera, Bieniemy's style of coaching and how he wants things done is polar opposite to what they have been used to.

If the players and coaches were in their comfort zone, Rivera states they are well and truly out of it now.

“He's loud," Rivera said. "The beauty of Eric, and that is again, it's from the perspective he has, I mean he's been with an organization that's done some things differently. And one of the things that he is very staunch about the way that he does it. That's something that's been different, and like I said, I appreciate it cause we're out of our comfort zone. We're doing things a little bit differently."

As the saying goes, change is as good as a holiday, and while an NFL training camp is anything but a free ride, the new way in which Bieniemy is getting the Commanders offense to approach things is a breath of fresh air.

For Rivera, having been set in his ways for so long, with Bieniemy coming in and shaking things up, it's given the head coach a new perspective on how things are done.

"You know, I've been doing things for the most part the same way for 12 years, and it's been good," Rivera said. "But, you know, this is something that's been different, and it's been good for our guys, I think as well. Because you're starting to have these aha moments, and we go, ah, okay, I get it. I see what's going on. I see why this is happening. So that's been something I think that's been really good for us as an organization and as a team as far as that's concerned.”

With so many changes happening this offseason, the introduction of Bieniemy into the organization has been nothing but a success thus far in terms of the environment created.

But the ultimate proof of how the offense is traveling will come when the games roll around...and we don't have to wait too much longer to see Bieniemy's offense in action.
