Washington Commanders Have 'Come to Some Good Resolutions' After Chicago Bears Loss
The film review of the Washington Commanders' 40-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night would always make for grim viewing.
On the national stage, Washington laid an egg, and while the game got close for a second, the Bears would pull away to earn a deserved win.
Such was the performance by Ron Rivera's team; there was a thought that it could seep into their next game against the Atlanta Falcons. But Rivera has revealed that the team found some resolutions to stop the three-game skid it's currently on.
“I just think that first and foremost there was a good opportunity for us the last couple days to dive into several things, study some things, look at some things, evaluate what we do and how we do it, evaluate the way we're doing it," Rivera said. "And I think, going through it and in our conversations that we've come to some pretty good resolutions and some things that most certainly do need to be corrected, need to be fixed, and some things that we can do to help the players.”
Washington started the year 2-0, and there was a good vibe around the franchise, but over the last three weeks, football reality has hit them squarely between the eyes.
The Commanders have lost three consecutive games by a combined score of 111-54, leaving the season in danger of slipping away at 2-3.

But having played on Thursday, the Washington coaching staff had a few extra days to review the debacle that happened on FedEx Field.
“Friday was a long day," Rivera said. "Longer than Saturday and Sunday, that's for sure. But, you know, getting a chance to go back and look at specific things, looking at some of the analytics that we have that we get from our people that tell us about some of the things. I got a chance to look at them. And then you look at the tape, and you see them and, and you say, ‘Okay, I get it.’ You look at it. Let's correct it, and let's go on.”
So, the Commanders know where the problems are, but knowing where they are and fixing them are two different things. With a little more time to prepare for the Atlanta Falcons, one would hope that the Washington coaching staff and players are zeroing in on what needs to be fixed.
The showing against the Bears simply wasn't good enough, and the Commanders will get a chance to rectify that against Atlanta as they try to arrest their three-game losing streak.
