Cowboys Draft Room Debate: New VIDEO Shows Mazi Smith Vs. Matthew Bergeron Decision

The Dallas Cowboys addressed several holes in the 2023 NFL Draft, but a big debate raged in the war room over two guys at No. 26.

From selecting the fifth tight end taken off the board in Michigan's Luke Schoonmaker to having one of the most heartfelt moments of the draft with sixth-round pick Deuce Vaughn receiving the news from his father, the Dallas Cowboys have had quite the 2023 NFL Draft.

Now begins the process of who will become productive pieces on the Cowboys roster. … but only after one more debate …

Were the Cowboys right in making their first-round pick Mazi Smith, 6-3, 337-pound run-stopper from Michigan?

After all, he has the potential to be a brick wall on the Cowboys defensive line - with old/new teammate Luke Schoonmaker stating,  lHe’s got the biggest shoulders I’ve seen on a man ever."

Or should the pick have been the Syracuse offensive lineman, Matthew Bergeron?

There is now Cowboys war room video that reveals that Dallas’ debate, keyed by personnel boss Will McClay, came down to those two guys.

And it looked and sounded like this …

The Michigan, as McClay notes, is a rare find on a Dallas board that usually doesn’t give such high grades to run-stoppers … and he also mentions the large investment the club has already made on the O-line.

So Mazi beats Bergeron (who went yo Atlanta in Round 2 at pick 38) and now maybe we will see his debate-winning asset in his first season: Taking the pass-rushing weight off Micah Parsons shoulders.
