Dallas Cowboys' Jake Ferguson on Trademark Hurdle - 'Big Biscuit's in The Air!'

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is slowly becoming the player the organization thought he would be in the absence of Dalton Schultz, who is now with the Houston Texans.

The second-year tight end again showed up in Dallas' 33-13 whipping of the Philadelphia Eagles as he hauled in five catches for 72 yards and hurdled another defender in the process.

After going airborne last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Ferguson was at it again against the Eagles, as it is quickly becoming a weapon in the tight end's arsenal.

"'Big Biscuit' is in the air," Ferguson said on his hurdle. "I've seen them trying to tackle my legs and, at some point, they're going too low, so I gotta go high."

Speaking of high, the Eagles have been Ferguson's bunny this season, as the tight end has been extremely productive in the passing game.

In his two games against Philadelphia this season, the "Big Biscuit" has 12 receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown, while averaging 13.5 yards per reception as the Eagles' defense doesn't have an answer for him.

Ferguson currently ranks eighth for yards (570) among tight ends (Schultz has 455 for those playing along at home) while ranking second in yards, receptions, and touchdowns for the Cowboys as he is starting to stack good performances together.

But back to that hurdle.

For the second time in two games, Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson hurdled a defender.

For the second time in two games, Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson hurdled a defender.

With Ferguson's grandfather, Barry Alvarez (a former Wisconsin head coach, where Ferguson played) in the stands at AT&T Stadium, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy thinks that Ferguson had a little pep in his step, which led to his hurdle of an Eagles defender.

“He was showing off for his grandfather,” McCarthy said with a smile. “He had an extra gear, no doubt but Jake has been tremendous. I mean, you just love his passion, and he's increasing the identity of our play style on offense, and that's been huge, obviously, his production speaks for itself ...

"He does the dirty work, too, that doesn't show up in the on the stats, but we all love just the way he plays, just so proud of him. He keeps getting better each week.”

Ferguson has allayed the fears many had in the offseason regarding how the offense could look without Schultz, as he has stepped up in a superb way.

And a PSA for defenders going forward: if you go low, the "Big Biscuit" is going high ... real high.
