Cowboys Micah Parsons Wants to Fight Boxer Errol Spence Jr.?
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons wants to start training camp early, but not in the sport you'd expect. He (jokingly says he) wants to spar with boxing superstar Errol Spence Jr. ahead of Spence's matchup with Terrence Crawford on July 29.
The first episode of SHOWTIME's ALL ACCESS: Spence vs. Crawford was just released, and in it, you get to see Spence visit the Cowboys, a team he dreamed of playing for as a child. As heartwarming as that sentiment is, things got a bit more competitive when Parsons came around.
"I'm in championship fight weight right now," Parsons said. To which Spence replied, "What if I break your nose?" "Three rounds, that's all I've got," Parsons said as the two laughed about the trouble Spence would get into with franchise owner Jerry Jones if the two ever actually sparred.
Jones later shared his appreciation for having Spence in the facility, saying, "What Errol is as a athlete. When I think of the Dallas Cowboys, I think he rises to that level of excellence in sports.''
Spence is a Dallas native, and when he fights Crawford, he plans to win for his hometown NFL team with the expectation that they'll return the favor.
"I'll win a Super Bowl for them on the 29th, and they'll win a Super Bowl for me later on in the year," Spence said.
When the legendary local boxer fights in Las Vegas in what's being touted as the biggest bout since Floyd Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao in 2015, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is among the members of "America's Team'' who plan to be in attendance supporting their honorary teammate as Spence attempts to kick off a run of sports success in Dallas that the Cowboys can continue. ... But Lamb and Parsons and the rest of the fellas will be wise to stay on this side of the ropes.
