Cowboys Micah Parsons: His Dan Quinn 'Secret' & His Super Bowl 'Dream'

Micah Parsons would rather being playing in the Super Bowl than spending time at NFL festivities. Better luck next year for the Cowboys star?

FRISCO - Micah Parsons sure was busy after the Dallas Cowboys’ playoff run ended. A trip to the Pro Bowl Games followed by a week at the Super Bowl occupied the time of the star linebacker.

But it’s clear that Parsons would trade in the fun and festivities to be where the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles were on Sunday.

“Yeah, that’s the goal every time,” Parsons said during his time in Arizona for the Super Bowl. “No doubt, this is my top motivation and priority.”

The Cowboys know exactly what needs to be done to play for a title. Playing in the NFC East with the Eagles offers up a measuring stick, and the Cowboys did split two games with the NFC champs.

Philadelphia also took a hit with the loss of defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, with both becoming head coaches. Gannon is taking over the Arizona Cardinals, with Steichen headed to the Indianapolis Colts.

The Cowboys did part ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, but defensive coordinator Dan Quinn pulled out potential head-coaching opportunities to return to Dallas.

The Cowboys - right now, maybe to the chagrin of ESPN's Herm Edwards considered a top-six contender in 2023 - expect to be one of the top defenses in the league again.

“It’s pretty great. DQ is my guy,” Parsons said. “You know, I knew he was never leaving, so I wasn’t even surprised.”

He admitted that the time spent in Las Vegas and Arizona was enjoyable, especially being around many of the NFL’s best players, along with the fun he had talking about himself (among those: a foot fetish). But the loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round still stings, and he’s already focused on the upcoming season.

“Just the way we lost, it was tough,” Parsons said. “Everyone hates to lose like that. … I just have to get ready for next year.”
