Cowboys Win Offseason: 'Springtime Super Bowl' Earns Jerry Jones' Staff Praise

The Dallas Cowboys added veterans on both sides of the ball in Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks, with former NFL quarterback turned analyst David Carr stating he loves how the team is coming together.

The Dallas Cowboys entered the offseason knowing which moves needed to be made to their roster.

CeeDee Lamb needed help, so Brandin Cooks was acquired via trade with the Houston Texans. The Dallas secondary was ravaged by injury, and thus some talent was required, so the Cowboys traded for All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Dallas acquired two veterans who make them better in two positions that needed reinforcements. Such has been the Cowboys' efforts during the free agency period, many have them as one of the top teams in the NFC.

Former NFL quarterback David Carr has highlighted the additions of Cooks and Gilmore and stated that he likes what has transpired in Frisco over the last few weeks.

"When I look at the Dallas Cowboys and the division they're in, they had to make something happen," Carr said via NFL Total Access. "Stephon Gilmore, I thought, had an excellent season in Indianapolis ...  And adding Cooks, a veteran wide receiver who is still going to be able to take the top off a coverage opposite CeeDee Lamb. ...

"I love the way this is forming together."

The NFC arms race is underway as the Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders play catch-up to the Philadelphia Eagles, who went "all in" for a Super Bowl ring last season.

The Cowboys are positioning themselves to make another run at the Super Bowl and present the Eagles with a serious challenge for NFC East honors.

Dallas' defense retained the majority of its unit, and now with the additions of Cooks and Gilmore, the Cowboys are in good shape as they look forward to the draft.

But did Dallas "win" free agency? The "Springtime Super Bowl''? After the front office's recent moves, there is a case to be made that sees them sitting at the top of the pile.
