FRISCO - Since his arrival in 2021, Dan Quinn has been a game-changer for the Dallas Cowboys' defense, just as he once was as the top assistant for the Super Bowl era Seattle Seahawks.

And as the Seahawks on Wednesday relieve his old boss, 72-year-old Pete Carroll, of his head coaching duties and begin their search for a replacement, an NFL source tells CowboysSI.com that Quinn is on Seattle's "wish list.''

Dallas' defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2020, but since Quinn took over, it's been one of the league's best. Some of that has to do with personnel changes, most notably drafting star pass-rusher Micah Parsons in 2021, but the impact of Quinn's scheme has been undeniable.

With his excellent showing in Dallas, Quinn has become a popular candidate to become a head coach once again. The former Atlanta Falcons coach interviewed for multiple gigs last offseason, but opted to remain with the Cowboys instead.

Could this Coaching Carousel be different?

One reason why an opportunity in Seattle could be so enticing is due to Quinn's past connections with the club. The 53-year-old first joined the Seahawks as a defensive line coach and assistant head coach in 2009 and 2010, then after a two-year stint with the Florida Gators, returned to lead the "Legion of Boom" defense in 2013 and 2014.

Quinn helped the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl title, and they nearly won another before he left to coach the Falcons.

Of course, this possibility is one of a handful for Quinn.

All of this would require Quinn opting to depart Dallas, and it's worth noting that on multiple occasions, Quinn has expressed to CowboysSI.com his enjoyment of work at The Star and his desire to "finish the job'' in Dallas.

But as a key figure in Dallas' playoff push, Quinn is already on the request list of the Chargers, Panthers, Commanders and more. And now, he's about to move from the Seattle "wish list'' to a likely official request for an interview.
