'Still Blessed!' DeMarvion Overshown Reacts to Major Cowboys Injury News

The injured DeMarvion Overshown, who late into the night tweeted “Still Blessed” with a praying hands emoji, ''has had an incredible camp,'' Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said. "We talked about him seems like almost ever other day. ... He was climbing the charts.''

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys are back home in Frisco now, evaluating film from having lost their second straight preseason game on Saturday night, falling to the Seattle Seahawks 22-14 on the road. ... but more importantly, waiting on the evaluation of doctors as a result of injury issues.

Rookie linebacker DeMarvion Overshown's issue is the biggest concern. The third-round pick was eventually taken off to the locker room with what could be a significant knee injury.

“You never want to see any of your guys get hurt,” Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said. “That’s what is so tough about these games. We had a couple young guys go down, and you just say your prayers and hopefully the (MRI) points in the right direction.

Overshown, who late into the night tweeted “Still Blessed” with a praying hands emoji, ''has had an incredible camp,'' McCarthy said. "We talked about him seems like almost ever other day. ... He was climbing the charts. ... Really has excellent command for a young player, young linebacker. So just hopeful.''

Dallas’ other injuries from Saturday also include rookie tight end John Stephens (knee) and offensive lineman Matt Waletzko (shoulder).

In addition to the injury issues, for the Cowboys, a few key mistakes late in the game ended up costing them dearly. ... and they will continue to be concerns this week here inside The Star. Early in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys were down by three in the red zone threatening to take the lead, but quarterback Will Grier threw an interception to Seahawks cornerback Tre brown on the goal line. Then on Dallas' next possession, Seattle blocked Bryan Anger's punt and caused a safety out of the back of the end zone.

Even with those miscues, the Cowboys still had a chance to win on their final drive. They quickly moved the ball inside the Seahawks' 30-yard-line and were putting together a nice drive on the two-minute drill. However, a drop on third down by receiver Tyron Johnson followed by a breakdown in pass protection on fourth ended any chance of a comeback.

Those few costly mistakes ended up dramatically changing the course of the game.

Grier finished as the Cowboys leading passer by completing 13 of 18 passes for 136 yards and an interception, while Cooper Rush completed nine of his 14 attempts for 96 yards and a touchdown in his start. Running backs Rico Dowdle and Malik Davis each had over 30 yards on eight carries, but rookie Deuce Vaughn had the most impressive run of the night when he weaved his way through the defense for a 14-yard score. Jalen Tolbert also had an impressive receiving game for Dallas, accounting for 66 yards on four catches.

The Cowboys play at home to close out the preseason, hosting the Las Vegas Raiders at AT&T Stadium on Saturday. ... but before that unfolds will come important news from the medical staff.
