FRISCO - Bo Jackson is a world-wide figure due to his brilliant athleticism. And in Texas, he's a hero, too, having been revealed as the anonymous donor who paid for $170,000 the funerals of the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde in 2022.

But the legendary two-sport professional star Bo Jackson is now in the news for an unpleasant oddity as he has spend the last year battling a case of chronic hiccups. ... an illness has driven him to try virtually any remedy to find relief - including, he says,“smell(ing) the ass of a porcupine.”

During a Wednesday appearance on “McElroy and Cubelic,” Jackson, 60, offered details of his unfortunate situation, saying he is "getting a medical procedure done the end of this week, I think, to try to remedy it.''

Said Jackson: “I’m busy at the hospital sitting up with the doctors poking me, shining lights down my throat, probing me every way they can to find out why I’ve got these hiccups.”

Jackson was a college superstar at Auburn, a legend who won the Heisman Trophy and an almost unstoppable force both on the NFL field as a Raiders running back and on the baseball diamond as a Royals outfielder. In short, there was little he could not overcome with his truly unique skill set. His celebrity rose as a result of Nike's "Bo Knows'' ad campaign.

But beating the hiccups? He has almost literally tried any option available to him.

“I have done everything,'' he said. "Scare me, drink water upside down, smell the ass of a porcupine. It doesn’t work.''

Hiccups are of course the result of spasms in the diaphragm, and for most of us, they last but a few minutes. Rarely, though, hiccups can go on for months. Here's hoping doctors "know'' of a way to fix this.
