FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is the winner of the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, for Week 1.

Prescott is being given the honor after the Cowboys' 35-17 divisional win against the visiting New York Giants. Prescott, the fourth-year quarterback, went 25 of 32 for 405 yards with four TD passes - and did it all with a 158.3 rating.

Prescott is the first Cowboys QB (with 20 attempts or more) to hit the perfect rating. He's one of just four QBs in NFL history with 158.3 rating on 30-plus pass attempts.

None of this is lost on Cowboys management, of course, which is why the Joneses continue to negotiation a long-term contract extension for Prescott, who will, if plans go right, become the highest-paid player in franchise history.

On Sunday, after the game, owner Jerry Jones termed a new deal with Prescott "imminent.'' He repeated that word on Tuesday in a visit with 105.3 The Fan.

COO Stephen Jones followed up with a funny quote.

“(Jerry),'' Stephen said, "has different meanings for different words.''

But a gigantic contract offer truly was on the table before Dak's perfect-QB-rating performance in Sunday's drubbing of the Giants. And Prescott obviously didn't hurt his chances of on Monday asking for a little bit more. And now with this accolade ... heck, maybe he can ask for just a little more.

Said Stephen: "(Hopefully) we’ll put this in the rearview mirror sooner than later.”

Indeed. Before Dak Prescott accomplishes another milestone, that is.
