Cowboys QB Pressure? 'I'm Rooting For Dak Prescott!' Says Super Bowl CB

Cowboys star Dak Prescott is often a criticized player due to his inconsistency, but Jason McCourty is standing in the quarterback's corner next season.

Many will be hard-pressed to find a player who is as much-maligned as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Being the leader of perhaps the biggest sporting organization on the planet no doubt comes with pitfalls, and Dak has seen them throughout his career thus far.

Last season, Dak took all of the blame for the Cowboys' loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. With a need to get better offensively, Dallas signed Brandin Cooks, but for some, the Cowboys are held back by Prescott.

But one compelling person is in Dak's corner. … former New England Patriots standout Jason McCourty.

McCourty wrote a piece for NFL.com in which he selected one player from each team to "root for" next season. For the Cowboys, McCourty picked Dak Prescott.

As expected this take came with a lot of heat for McCourty's choice, but the former Super Bowl-winning cornerback doubled down on his selection.

“I’m rooting for Dak, I think he’s a good quarterback,” McCourty said on Good Morning Football. “Cowboys have obviously fallen short but as I say when we talk about Kirk Cousins, be careful what you wish for. Dak is a solid quarterback in the NFL.”

Many point to Prescott's soaring league-leading interception total last year (15) as a reason why Dallas won't win anything with Dak under center and have pinned that narrative on him for the entire offseason ... despite last year clearly being an outlier.

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky pointed out that in the last three seasons, Prescott has started 33 games and has thrown 29 interceptions.

But … David Helman of Fox Sports came to Dak's defense as he brought up that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw the same number of interceptions in the same number of games as Dak.

While some were just downright bad throws, others were not his fault. But alas, interceptions are a quarterback stat, so it falls on Dak's shoulders.

Now entering a new offseason with a host of coaching changes and without his best friend, Ezekiel Elliott, Prescott is embarking on a challenging season. 

But for all the doubters that are still out there on Prescott, at least he already has someone in his corner before a down has been played.
