Cowboys Trade: Jaguars CB Shaquill Griffin As Jalen Ramsey Alternative?

In this story:
With reports of a potential trade of Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey came more reports linking the star corner to the Dallas Cowboys.
On paper - not counting the finances - it makes sense. Pairing Ramsey and Trevon Diggs forms arguably the best corner duo and elevates an already elite Cowboys Defense. Of course, that doesn't guarantee a trade will occur.
After all, the Cowboys could balk at the asking price for Ramsey. Should that be the case, Bleacher Report offered a cheaper alternative for Dallas if it seeks corner help this offseason - Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Shaquill Griffin.
In their trade proposal, the Cowboys would send the Jaguars a 2027 seventh-round pick for Griffin.
With Griffin on the way out one way or another, Jacksonville would likely take what it can get to unload the final year of his contract. Dallas would have to take on his $11.5 million base salary, but a late Day 3 draft pick would probably get a deal done.
As they mention, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Jaguars are expected to try and trade Griffin or release him if a trade doesn't materialize which is what could make the price so cheap.
Griffin only appeared in five games for the Jaguars last season after suffering a back injury, recording 29 total tackles and four pass deflections in those five games. However, he was a Pro Bowler with Seattle in 2019 when he recorded 65 total tackles and 13 pass deflections.
This is all, of course, purely speculation and doesn't guarantee that the Cowboys will trade for either Ramsey or Griffin.
Acquiring Griffin would be relatively cheap, though, and with the potential departure of Anthony Brown in free agency could make sense for both parties.
