Brian Flores stands with Daniel Kilgore, wants to win

The Miami Dolphins want to win football games. You may not believe it, but it is true. In reality, the Dolphins were never going to win many games, but suddenly the players have become annoyed with the low bar set by the fans.

Kilgore's comments shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. These players are paid to win football games and that is what they want to do. No team wants to be known as the worst in the league. When asked about Kilgore's comments during Thursday's press conference, Brian Flores gave a pretty straight-forward answer to what he wants to do.

No coach wants to be lead a team to 0-16 and no player wants to lose by 20-plus points every week. There is a divide developing between the players and fanbase. What is missed throughout this debate is that both sides want the Miami Dolphins to be good, if not a great football team. Every team enters the season with Super Bowl hopes and while the players hit the field every Sunday with a focus on winning, the fans know it is much easier said than done.

The Dolphins had a pretty bare roster heading into the season and it is clear they weren't going to have much success. However, when fans hold signs about the next franchise quarterback or what elite players will be available when free agency roles around, they aren't expecting the current players to come out and try to lose.

As we try to battle through the rocky 2019 season, it is important to remember that fans would love to see Daniel Kilgore as a top-tier center and cheer on a handful of undrafted rookies who may develop at the professional level. They are also aware of how hard it is to win in the NFL and the importance of elite players.

As the saying goes, winning cures everything. The Dolphins won't do much of that in 2019, but fans continue to grasp at every bright spot on this team like Preston Williams and Davon Godchaux. Keep in mind, it is hard to not look to the 2020 draft with Miami's warchest of picks and not be excited for the future and a day when the Dolphins could potentially be viewed as one of the better teams in the league.
