Do Eagles Have NFL's Brightest Future?

After appearing in Super Bowl LVII, do the Philadelphia Eagles have the brightest future in the NFL?

The Philadelphia Eagles' main focus is on winning right now, but like any successful franchise, they have an eye to the future as well.

In that regard, the Eagles have done exceptionally well at setting themselves up for the future. Many of their key players are still young, as is coach Nick Sirianni, and general manager Howie Roseman has shown himself to be among the savviest in the league.

By every metric, the Eagles are well-equipped for the future. So much so that ESPN even ranked Philadelphia at No. 1 on its future power rankings.

"The Eagles have a loaded roster; a front office that has shown a deft ability to maintain and replenish through the draft, trades and free agency; a head coach who has established a Super Bowl-caliber culture in just two seasons; and an exciting, young franchise quarterback who's locked in long-term and appears driven to be great," ESPN's Dan Graziano writes. "The Philadelphia sports fan might not be inclined toward optimism, but this team should be changing that."

ESPN based its rankings on five separate categories, and Philadelphia excelled in each of them. The Eagles came in at No. 1 in both the overall roster category (30 percent of the overall grade) and the front office category (15 percent). They also placed No. 2 in drafting (15 percent), No. 4 in quarterback (20 percent) and No. 7 in coaching (20 percent).

Even with the Eagles topping the rankings, there are still some minor concerns for the future. Namely, the team is breaking in two new coordinators this season, and future turnover could be difficult to sustain.

"Focus has shifted to the amount of talent on the coaching staff that has left the organization over the past few months," ESPN's Louis Riddick writes. "Both coordinators have gone on to become head coaches, leaving new offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and defensive coordinator Sean Desai to lead what is arguably the best roster in the NFL back to the Super Bowl -- and win it this time. Can that duo get it done?"

Just behind the Eagles are their Super Bowl LVII opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs, who topped the rankings in the quarterback and coaching categories. The Cincinnati Bengals are just behind them at No. 3, while the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills are tied at No. 4.

The Eagles also far outshine their division rivals in these rankings. The Dallas Cowboys are the second NFC East team to appear on the list at No. 10, followed by the New York Giants at No. 17 (tied) and Washington Commanders at No. 27.

The Eagles may have come up just short in Super Bowl LVII, but if their future is as bright as advertised, those championship woes won't last much longer.
