A new rule was recently approved at the NFL's spring meetings that grants the flexibility to reschedule games for Thursday Night Football between Weeks 13 and 17, with teams receiving a 28-day notice of any changes.

While the majority of NFL players are against this rule, Philadelphia Eagles' All-Pro center Jason Kelce has taken a contrary stance on the matter, offering a unique perspective amidst the ongoing evaluation of the rule's impact.

"As we've talked about before, I'm a huge fan of the Thursday Night games," Kelce said on a May 25th episode of the "New Heights" podcast. "Listen, I am all for games being played on Thursdays because that means we have walkthroughs during the middle of the week and we don't practice. Then we get three days off after the game."

In addition, Kelce emphasized that Thursday Night games are crucial in aiding his leg recovery, enabling him to maintain a "fresh" state for upcoming games. But it's reasons like this that makes Kelce feel other players are in the wrong for complaining about the tough part of the schedule instead of looking at the benefits it can provide.

“Players that are anti–Thursday night games are just looking to make headlines," he said. "There’s no f****** chance anybody with half a brain cell is against Thursday night games.”

Kelce also disclosed his genuine passion as a football fan, highlighting Thursday Night Football as one of the rare occasions when he can truly appreciate the game from a spectator's perspective.

"I'm just a football fan at heart," he said. "I really appreciate seeing high-quality football showcased in primetime on TV. I don't want to tune in on Thursday night only to witness a lackluster game. I thoroughly enjoy watching good football. Thursday night provides me with one of the limited opportunities to savor the sport as a fan."

While it remains uncertain whether the NFL will permanently adopt this rule, Kelce has unequivocally expressed his desire for it to become a lasting fixture within the league.
