Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown Entering MVP Discussion?

The Philadelphia Eagles' most valuable player has been receiver A.J. Brown, but has he also been the NFL's?

The Philadelphia Eagles completed the season sweep of the Washington Commanders on Sunday, beating their NFC East Division rival in a 38-31 shootout.

Eagles star receiver and team captain A.J. Brown came out of the game with eight catches on eight targets for 130 yards and two touchdowns. It was Brown's best game for Philadelphia since the last time he saw the Commanders and brought in nine passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

There's no doubt Brown has been the best player for the Eagles this season, but is it also possible he's been the best player in the NFL?

"Has there been a player in the NFL that has done their job as well as A.J. Brown?," Kyle Brandt asked during Monday's episode of NFL Network's Good Morning Football

Of course, that answer had already been answered earlier in the episode by co-analyst Peter Schrager who stated the case for Brown being the best receiver in the league before Brandt opened the door to a possible league MVP conversation.

"(The Eagles) might have the best receiver in football...A.J. Brown's amazing," Schrager said. "Brown is doing thing right now that no Eagles receiver has ever done...he's on pace to shatter the Eagles' single-season receiving yard record which is held by...A.J. Brown...he's also on pace to have the most receiving yards in NFL history...Six straight games of 125 (yards) or more - nobody in history has ever done it, so you have that one - and as you're watching him do all this...he makes big plays, it's not garbage yards in blowouts."

Shrager also points out that while some perceive Brown to be a player Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts will just throw the ball to and trust he'll make the play, coach Nick Siranni actually countered that perception after the win over Washington.

"He made the exact same play in practice on Friday," Sirianni said of Brown's second touchdown catch of the game which you can see, here. "The exact same play on the same sideline against the same coverage, with the same ball ... I mean it was an unbelievable catch. It was a hell of a ball too. It was almost identical to what happened in practice."

That touchdown helped the Eagles draw even with the Commanders after trailing for most of the game. It was the exact moment Philly took the momentum it needed to extract its seventh win of the year.

Because of that, it may have been the most valuable catch of the day, but it wasn't even close to the most impressive.

And just like those catches, Brown's impact has been consistent and critical, making him a player who now requires his name being dropped in NFL MVP conversations at the midway point of the season.
