Eagles Howie Roseman Revisits Jonathan Gannon Tampering Situation: 'Control What We Can'

In this story:
In the hours leading up to the 2023 NFL draft, ESPN reported that the Philadelphia Eagles had received the Arizona Cardinals' No. 66 pick (third round) in exchange for the pick No. 94 (third round) and 2024 fifth-round pick as a result of a tampering settlement involving former Philly defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.
Following the Eagles' Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Gannon was swiftly appointed as the new head coach of the Cardinals. The team interviewed him a few days after the NFC Championship game, which has been deemed potential tampering by the league.
During an appearance on the 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman initially hesitated to address the tampering situation when asked about it on Tuesday morning. He expressed frustration about having to revisit the Super Bowl.
"I'm mad that we're talking about the freakin' Super Bowl," he said. "I'm mad that I got to freakin' go back to that moment, that we had a chance to win our second world championship, and it drives me. All this other stuff, it doesn't help us win games, so we've got to move on from it and figure out the best way to win games."
However, he eventually acknowledged that the matter had been dealt with at the ownership and league levels.
"That was handled at the ownership level and the league level, and for me, I can only control what we can, adding as many good players and as many good people as we can on this team," Roseman said.
Despite having sat out of all three post-draft press conferences, Gannon has yet to comment on the tampering situation. In contrast, Cardinals' general manager Monti Ossenfort took responsibility for the issue and addressed it publicly.
The talk surrounding the tampering situation will only disappear once Gannon addresses it at his next press conference.
