Falcons Lose Out as Darius Slayton Signs With Giants

In this story:
New York Giants receiver Darius Slayton is trying to cash in after a rebound 2022 season. … and the Atlanta Falcons, according to multiple reports, were “closing in” on a deal with the free agent.
But alas, he’s sticking with the Giants.
Slayton almost didn’t stick with the Giants a year ago due to cap concerns. But he agreed to a pay cut to remain on the squad. … and while it took until the second half of the season for him to truly get a shot, he did hit the gas pedal in helping the Giants get to the playoffs.
How much is he worth as the Falcons envision him doing more of the same in Atlanta? We don’t know the dollars here but we know how Slayton blossomed last season.
After putting up almost no numbers in the first half of the year, Slayton ended up having caught 46 passes for 724 yards and two touchdowns.
The Giants were working to keep him, and did so … so the Falcons - somewhat of a run-first team that can change that with existing young pass targets like Kyle Pitts and Drake London - will like elsewhere for a supplementary piece.
Source confirms the Falcons’ interest in Giants WR Darius Slayton. As of yesterday, Atlanta was seen as the front runner. There’s interest in returning to New York, but signs have been pointing to a potential agreement with Atlanta.

Wedd the Falcons really “considered the favorite” here? Maybe it helps that Slayton is an Auburn product … so there can be a regional comfort level, if you will. (In other words, this ain’t New York).
My understanding is, late in the negotiating period, Giants WR Darius Slayton was weighing offers to return + at least one offer from elsewhere, believed to be the Falcons, per sources.

Not sure if or how much that has changed, but as of yesterday, Slayton return still on table.
But if there really was a Slayton contractual tug of war between the Giants and Atlanta? The Giants just won it.
