Giants Workplace Grades Revealed in New NFLPA Survey Results

The Giants end up in the middle of the pack in most key areas.

The NFLPA is out with its annual Team Report Cards on each of the league's 32 teams, a study that covered 11 different categories. The New York Giants finished eighth out of 32 teams, with the highest marks in the individual categories reserved for the Training Staff (A-) and head coach (A-) and the lowest for the Treatment of Families (C).

The players thought the team's locker room and playing surface were the two biggest categories needing upgrading. The Giants have called the Quest Diagnostics Training Center their headquarters since 2010, while the playing surface at MetLife Stadium was replaced last year based on recommendations from both Giants and Jets players regarding a more favorable surface.

The Giants training staff, as led by long-time NFL veteran Ronnie Barnes, received an A- from the players, the second-best mark in the league, with 96 percent of the players satisfied that they receive an adequate amount of one-on-one treatment time, which ranks 1st in the NFL.

The players also felt that the training staff "significantly contributed to their success," a sentiment that smashes the common public belief that the training staff is responsible for the Giants' high number of injuries annually.

Interestingly, though, the team's training room received an overall grade of B, which was the 12th bet in the league. This category took into consideration the number of full-time trainers and physical therapists. The training room fell short in its grades in available hot tub space (24th overall) and cold tub space (17th overall).

Head coach Brian Daboll also received an overall grade of A- in the newly added category, with the Giants finishing 13th in that category. The players unanimously praised Daboll for being efficient with their time, while the majority felt that Daboll was willing to listen to the locker room )13th place ranking).

Team ownership, Team Travel, and Strength Coaches received a B+ grade. The team's ownership ranked 14th overall, the primary deciding favor being a willingness to invest in the facilities, in which John Mara, one-half of ownership, received an 8.8 to 10 rating from the Giants players (14th).

The Giants' lowest-graded areas included Treatment of Families (C), Nutritionist/Dietician, and Locker Room (C+).

The Giants are one of 12 teams that do not provide a family room during games, something they used to have at the old Giants Stadium. However, the team does provide daycare on gameday, though it's unclear if this daycare is held on the premises of MetLife Stadium or over at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

The team's nutritionist/dietician received a C+, ranking them 27th in the league, the most common complaint from 67 percent of the players claiming they feel like they get an individualized plan.

The primary feedback on the locker room is that the players felt that they didn't have enough space in their individual lockers, which is unsurprising given the number of veteran players who branch out to a second locker when space permits. However, most of the players (90 percent) felt the locker room was big enough.

The Giants' grades dipped in several categories from the 2023 input. Among the teams that scored the highest across the board were the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.

The Washington Commanders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers were among the lowest-scoring teams across the board.
