PFF: Jaguars' Josh Allen is the No. 3 Free-Agent For 2024

The Jaguars' star pass-rusher would likely command a huge market if he became a free-agent.

Josh Allen is going to be a very, very rich man in a few months.

The Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker is having a career year, already setting career highs in sacks (13.5), quarterback hits (24), and tackles for loss (13) despite the season only being 13 games old at this point.

As a result, Allen is one of the top players in the NFL on an expiring contract, as evidenced by Pro Football Focus ranking Allen is the No. 3 free agent for the 2024 offseason.

The only players in front of him? All-Pro defensive lineman Chris Jones and quarterback Kirk Cousins, who gets a bump due to the position he plays.

Allen ranks above other pass-rushers such as Brian Burns, Danielle Hunter, Bryce Huff, and Chase Young.

"Allen backed up a strong 2022 with an extraordinary 2023 season, racking up career highs in quarterback pressures (69) and sacks (13.5) already through Week 14, coupled with a 20.1% pass-rush win rate that is among the league’s best," PFF's Brad Spielberger said.

"It’s a lot that goes in, he’s a beast in the weight room. Me and him, we compete a lot in the weight room. We lean on each other as well, too. I’m just so happy for him, I’m happy to see all of his work come into fruition and everything that he’s been putting forward has been worth it," Jaguars defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot said this week.

"I’m just so happy for him and I’m just trying to be able to get him there, get him to that record. I know Calais [Campbell] is going to be mad because it’s breaking his record. I’m just trying to do everything I can as a teammate to be able to get him there.”

"Well, he’s affecting the quarterback. He’s playing physical, he’s using a lot of his pass rush game to affect the quarterback," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said earlier this season.

"By scheme too, we’ve seen a lot of different moves and games and stunts which are effective. A lot of teams do that and we’ve been able to do it. His desire to get to the quarterback, especially in passing situations. It’s a combination of everything.”
