Jaguars LS Ross Matiscik Named NFLA All-Pro

The NFL's players have named Ross Matiscik the best long snapper in football in 2023.

The Jacksonville Jaguars officially have the best long snapper in football.

In the same year that Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik was named a Pro Bowler for the first time, Matiscik was also named an NFL Players Association first-team All-Pro.

"We asked players across the league to select who had the most impact this season. The players were tasked with voting for the best player at their same position and positions they line up against. Here are the results," the NFLPA said.

Matiscik just wrapped up his fourth season with the franchise after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Since then, Matiscik has been a force for the Jaguars' at long snapper thanks to both his consistency and his value as a tackler.

Matiscik led the Jaguars in special teams tackles this year, led all long snappers in tackles and was the only long snapper to force and recover a fumble, doing so in a Week 11 win vs. the Tennessee Titans.

Ross specifically, just the accuracy on his snaps, his willingness and desire, running down the field, he caused a fumble last time," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said last week. "His tackling and things of that nature, it stands out when other teams are watching and looking, other players are looking. He stands out, so it’s a credit to him and his effort.”

The next question now is if Matiscik can pull the hack trit and become an Associated Press first-team All-Pro. For now, though, he is unquestionably the best at what he does.
