Jaguars Sign Ex-Buccaneers OT Josh Wells

The former Jaguar offensive tackle will return to Jacksonville.

There will be a familiar face returning to the Jacksonville Jaguars' offensive line room.

The Jaguars announced the signing of offensive tackle Josh Wells on Tuesday, reuniting the two parties after Wells spent the first five years of his career with the Jaguars.

Wells has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the last four seasons but will now return to Jacksonville as an experienced swing tackle option. Wells has experience at both left and right tackle and can fill the swing tackle role that Walker Little occupied last year, backing up both left and right tackle.

Wells will now step into the swing tackle role as Little is set to replace former starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor. While Little is the top candidate to replace Taylor as the starting right tackle, Wells would give the Jaguars experienced depth behind a third-yeat tackle who has played just 20 NFL snaps at right tackle.

"You hated to see him go, but I get it, that's part of our business, right. And that's what's gonna happen. Listen, I wish him all the best and success in Kansas City. And you know, but now for us, it's about moving forward," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said at this year's annual Owners Meetings.

Wells appeared in 39 games during his first Jaguars tenure, starting nine games between 2017-2018. He then appeared in 56 games with Tampa Bay over the last four years, earning a Super Bowl ring with the team while starting 15 regular-season games and one playoff game.
