Report: Trevor Lawrence’s Shoulder Injury ‘Not Considered To Be a Major Injury’

The third-year quarterback is now dealing with his fourth injury of the season.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is set to get an MRI on his injured throwing shoulder, though one report indicates some optimism for the third-year quarterback.

"He has an MRI today. My understanding is it is not considered to be a major injury. And the fact that he talked to reporters after the game, didn't have his arm in a sling, it didn't look like a major injury either," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said.

"He has battled through everything, so do not be surprised if that is the case again. But still going to be fully evaluated today, if he can find an MRI machine that works on Christmas Day."

Lawrence was replaced by C.J. Beathard in the final quarter, though Lawrence finished the drive he was injured on with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Lawrence ultimately injured his shoulder when diving out of bounds and landing on it near the end of the third quarter.

“Yeah, when I landed, I knew something was off. Then, the next play, I throw it and it kind of hurts to throw. I just wanted to finish the drive out," Lawrence said on Sunday after the 30-12 loss.

"We were able to get some points and then on the two-point [conversion], I just could tell by the way that I threw it that I couldn’t really get my shoulder up good enough to really keep playing. So, I would’ve loved to have stayed in, but I’m just kind of hurting everybody at that point if I do. They kind of made the call and I was with it just to take a seat the rest of the night. [If I] can’t really throw, [I’m] not to going to help us with having to throw the ball every play. C.J. [Beathard] came in and did a nice job.”

Lawrence finished the game 17-of-29 for 211 yards and a touchdown, also throwing two interceptions and losing one fumble. To this point in his career, Lawrence has never missed a start, becoming one of just three quarterbacks this week to start every single game since Week 1 of the 2021 season.

“Yeah, it’s bothering me. We’re going to check it out tomorrow I’m sure, so [we’ll] have more later on in the week. Hopefully its’s nothing major, but yeah, it’s bugging me right now," Lawrence said after the game.
