Jaguars Add Jamal Agnew to Active Roster Ahead of Ravens Game

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be getting a boost on special teams on Sunday night, with star returner Jamal Agnew added back to the active roster off of injured reserve on Saturday.
Agnew was originally placed on the Reserve/Injured list on November 18, 2023.
Agnew has appeared in eight games this season (Week 1-3, 5-9) where he recorded nine receptions for 90 yards, 11 punt returns for 117 yards and seven kickoff returns for 194 yards.
Agnew was originally drafted by Detroit in the fifth round (165th overall) of the 2017 Draft before signing with Jacksonville as an unrestricted free agent in March 2021.
Agnew has been replaced in the last month in the return game by sixth-round rookie Parker Washington, though the consistency in the return game has expectedly waned since Agnew's injury.
“Obviously, he’s a dynamic ball carrier. We’ve all seen that as a punt returner, he’s done that at times for us in the two years here as a ball carrier for us in the offense," Jaguars offensive coordinator PHe gives us the speed, the vertical threat down the field that without a guy like that, obviously you lack. I think that’s an element that stresses defenses a little bit, you know where he is on the field, people are certainly aware of when he comes in the game, when he goes in motion, when he is near the football is some way, shape or form. He’s continued to grow as a receiver from our time here. He’s still relatively new to the position, so we’ve just watched him get better every single year, every single week and grow in his receiver ability.”
To make room, the Jaguars have waived quarterback Nathan Rourke.
