Daniel Jeremiah: Three Jaguars rookies among the NFL's best in 2019 so far

The former scout thinks the Jaguars have nailed the 2019 draft so far.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 2-2 after the first quarter of the season, despite issues such as losing starting quarterback Nick Foles to a fractured clavicle in the second offensive possession of the season and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey requesting a trade following week 2. 

A large reason the season hasn't been lost yet? The play of the Jaguars 2019 draft class. They found current starters in defensive end Josh Allen (1st-round), right tackle Jawaan Taylor (second-round), linebacker Quincy Williams (3rd-round), and quarterback Gardner Minshew (sixth-round). Meanwhile, fifth-round running back Ryquell Armstead scored one of the team's only two touchdowns in a 26-24 victory over the Denver Broncos in week 4.

And because of their high impact, the Jaguars 2019 draft class has garnered strong praise throughout the national media. One such instance of praise is from NFL.com writer Daniel Jeremiah, a former NFL scout and one of the media's most trusted draft personalities. 

Jeremiah has ranked the NFL's top 25 rookie performers through the first quarter of the season and three Jaguars found themselves on the list, with Minshew as the top rookie. Here is what Jeremiah had to say about the Jaguars rookies and where he thinks they rank: 

Gardner Minshew: Ranked #1 

Minshew has brought energy to the Jags' offense since replacing the injured Nick Foles in Week 1. The sixth-round pick from Washington State can create plays, and he's been a good decision maker.

Josh Allen: Ranked #18

Allen flashes big-time burst off the edge and has been a little better versus the run than anticipated.

Quincy Williams: Ranked #19

The Jaguars' scouting staff deserves credit for identifying Williams as a quality sleeper in the 2019 NFL Draft and picking him in the third around. He has been outstanding thus far this season. His speed and range jump off the screen.

The Jaguars 2019 draft class has paid off big for the team through four games. If they want to continue to make noise in the AFC South, they will need the 2019 class to continue their performance.
