The Jacksonville Jaguars have been busy over the last week, signing tight end Evan Engram and defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot to new deals ahead of training camp.

With each respected veteran now back in the locker room, this week's episode of The JaguarReport Podcast discusses each move, their positives and the potential negatives, too.

On Sunday, Engram signed a three-year, $41.25 million deal with $24 million in guarantees.

Engram had a career year in 2022 as he caught 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns, along with 12 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in two playoff games.

Engram not only finished fourth among all tight ends in receiving yards, but he set a franchise record for receptions and receiving yards by a tight end in a single season.

Smoot's deal, which is worth a max value of $6.25M and comes with $3.25M in guarantees, keeps Smoot in Jacksonville after he spent the offseason as a free-agent.

At the time of his Achilles injury against the New York Jets in Week 16, Smoot was second on the team in pressures, fourth in quarterback hits, first in sacks, and second in pass-rush win rate. He recorded five sacks in each of the last four seasons, recording 22.5 sacks in that span and often looking like Jacksonville's most consistent pass-rusher.
