Jaguars Sign Ex-Broncos Kicker Brandon McManus, Waive Riley Patterson

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a change at kicker, signing former Denver Bronco kicker Brandon McManus and waiving Riley Patterson.
McManus was surprisingly released by the Broncos earlier this week after appearing in 148 games over nine seasons, including during the Broncos' Super Bowl run in the 2015-16 season. McManus was 10-of-10 in the postseason as the Broncos picked up a Super Bowl victory over the Carolina Panthers.
"Brandon has been a key player and presence with the Broncos for nearly a decade, making outstanding contributions to our team and community," General Manager George Paton said in a statement when Denver released the veteran kicker.
"Developing into one of the NFL's most productive kickers, Brandon made so many clutch kicks for this franchise over the years as a Super Bowl champion and team captain. He will always hold a special place in Denver Broncos history. We thank Brandon for all he did for the Broncos, and we wish him and his family the very best in the future."
Patterson was picked up by the Jaguars ahead of Week 1 last year and then appeared in all 19 games, including going 3-of-3 on field goals during the Jaguars' two postseason games. Patterson was 33-of-38 on field goal attempts last season, going 2-of-3 from 50 or more yards. He made 36-of-37 point after attempts.
Patterson started the season on a so-so foot, missing four field goals in the first 10 games. He then went 19-of-20 over the rest of the season, however, with his only miss coming in a dow
Patterson is now eligible for waivers and can potentially return to the Jaguars' roster if he clears them.
McManus was 28-of-36 on field goals last season and 25-of-27 on point after attempts.
"In his nine seasons, McManus has converted 81.4 percent (223-of-274) of his field goal attempts and his 40 made field goals of 50-plus yards are third most in the NFL over that time span," the Jaguars said in a release.
"His 946 total points are fifth-most in the NFL since 2014. He has appeared in four postseason contests and successfully converted all 10 of his field goal attempts, including two from 50-plus yards. He is one of two place kickers to convert all field goal and extra point attempts (minimum 10 field goals made) in the postseason in the last nine seasons."
