Just imagine if the NFL held a draft for every single veteran today.

The No. 1 pick would be obvious. Any team gifted the chance to start their franchise with a player from today's era would go with Patrick Mahomes.

But what about the following picks? How long would Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence have to wait to hear his name called?

That is the scenario posted by NFL.com. In a seven-round mock draft with every NFL player on the board, Lawrence saw only five players get drafted before him: Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, and Aaron Rodgets, with Lawrence ending up at No. 6 overall.

"In his final nine regular-season games last season, Lawrence completed 69.7 percent of his passes for 2,273 yards with a 15:2 TD-to-INT ratio, showing with that scintillating performance (plus his four-TD effort in a thrilling comeback win over the Chargers in the playoffs) that he's on the verge of becoming a top-five quarterback," NFL.com said.

In 17 starts in 2022, Lawrence completed 387 of 584 passes for 4,113 yards and 25 TDs. His 387 completions were the most in a single season in franchise history and his five rushing TDs were tied with Garrard for the most in single-season franchise history.

Lawrence joined Bengals QB Joe Burrow and Bills QB Josh Allen as the only players in the NFL with 25-plus passing TDs and at least five rushing TDs. Against the Titans in Week 14, Lawrence set a career-high with 368 yards passing and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.

The second-year quarterback totaled four 300-yard passing games and orchestrated three comebacks of 17-plus points, including a comeback from behind 27-0 in the postseason against the Chargers.

Last year, Lawrence ranked top-8 in DYAR, DVOA, effective yards, interception %, ANY/A, Sack %, and success rate, while also finishing top-10 in EPA/Play and CPOE.

"He was very receptive and that's the one thing about Trevor, his maturity level is off the charts. So you're able to sit down and say, here's what we see, here's what we need to improve on. He generally has the same notes for the most part," Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said about Lawrence this offseason.

"Or we'll ask what are your thoughts? And he kind of says the same things we're tracking. So that's very encouraging for us as a coaching staff to kind of already see the same things, want to improve on the same things, whether that's fundamentals with him or schematics In terms of our whole offense."
