Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence Is 7th In MVP Odds For 2023

All aboard the Trevor Lawrence hype train!
The next member to make its way there is FanDuel Sportsbook, who in their most recent odds for the 2023-2024 NFL MVP has Lawrence at +1600, the seventh highest ranking on the platform.
The young signal-caller had a sophomore season to remember, eclipsing over 4,100 passing yards with 25 touchdowns to eight interceptions and a 95.2 passer rating, playing a major role in the Jaguars massive second-half winning streak to break their five year playoff drought.
With the increased odds to win next year’s MVP award it is clear that the expectation revolves around Lawrence establishing himself as an elite quarterback.
In his January 24th exit presser, Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke made clear that those expectations are not only justified, but can possibly be eclipsed.
“Well, I think he’s certainly trending that way and is there more? There’s a lot more,” Baalke said.
"I think Trevor would say the same thing. His upside, his ability to grow at the position from just a knowledge standpoint. You got to remember now, this is the third offense in three years that Trevor has played in, counting his senior year in college. You go from that to a new system in the NFL and then all the sudden, it’s a hit the reset button as we’ve got another offense. It’s his third offense in three years, and it takes a while to master that. I think you saw the development in him mentally as well as physically throughout the course of this season. I think it’s only going to trend upward from there.”
Baalke added that Lawrence already proved to him multiple times last season just how good of a quarterback he really is.
“A lot of times,” Baalke said. “One thing about him, he’s really a lot like Doug [Head Coach Doug Pederson] in the sense that he’s very steady. He’s very even keeled. That’s a marriage made in heaven there because they related to each other that way. They’re both fearless, Trevor doesn’t fear anything. They’re very authentic, so when you have leaders at the quarterback position and at the head coach position that are like that, everybody else just kind of falls in line.”
The desire to take another leap is a mutual one for Trevor Lawrence and the NFL world at large, with Lawrence making clear that while he did make a jump this season, there is plenty in store for both him and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“One hundred percent,” Lawrence said in January. “I think you look at what we did this season, and I can speak kind of for the whole offense, we didn’t really hit our stride until later in the season, and there’s a lot more out there for us, and even this past week we left a lot on the table. There’s a lot of things that we can do better, that I can do better. I know that I still for sure have my best football in front of me. That’s the exciting thing, is all the things that we accomplished and have left on the table. You look at whether it’s the one-score losses that we had earlier in the season of some of the offensive performances that weren’t up to our standards throughout the year, clean up some of those and play better week in and week out, play more consistently, and there’s a lot more for us.”
