Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence Weighs In on Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl LVII Matchup

The Jaguars' quarterback suited up against both of this year's Super Bowl teams earlier this season. So, how does he see the game playing out?

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence knows a bit more about this year's Super Bowl teams than most.

Lawrence started three games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles this year, losing to the Eagles 29-21 in Week 4 and to the Chiefs 27-17 in Week 10 and 27-20 in the AFC Divisional Round. Narrowly losing three times to the NFL's two best squads gives Lawrence as good of a perspective on the Super Bowl LVII matchup as anyone.

"Man. It's a tough call. I mean, obviously we played both of them. We played the Chiefs twice, so I know their defense pretty well. I think that obviously, both teams are really, really good. I think it's going to be a tight game," Lawrence told NFL Network this week.

Lawrence had a passer rating of 90.5 with 476 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in two games in the 2022 regular-season and playoffs versus the Chiefs, which included Lawrence throwing multiple scores in the second-half vs. the Chiefs in Week 10.

"The Chiefs defense, I think it's really underrated. That's something that I will say playing them twice. Got to see it firsthand," Lawrence said.

"I mean, Chris Jones up front gives you a lot of trouble. He's a great player. And then you look at their scheme and their pressures and their disguise and all those things. They do some really good things to make it challenging. Their secondary has been playing really well. So they're playing great. And obviously they got Patrick and that's that's a guy who's been there before, has a lot of experience. He's a he's a winner."

Lawrence didn't play quite as well vs. the Eagles in Week 4, turning the ball over five times in a rain-filled game. This included four lost fumbles, with two being unforced errors and the other two coming at the hand of a tough Eagles' pass-rush.

Lawrence had a passer rating of 84.3 with 174 yards, two touchdowns and one interception vs the Eagles.

"But then you look at the Eagles and the season that they've had, I think they've definitely been the most dominant team in the NFL this year," Lawrence said.

"So it's kind of hard to go against them too and their defense. We played them too and their pass rush is great. Their secondary is great. So it's gonna be a great matchup. I can't wait to watch it."
