Jaguars vs. Browns: Week 14 Snap Count Analysis

While watching a game live can give you one impression of a player's usage, looking at the actual amount of snaps they played compared to their teammates can also give insight into the team's strategy and outlook.

When looking at the snap counts for the Jacksonville Jaguars after their 31-27 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 14, it is clear to see what kind of plan the Jaguars went into the game with, and what limitations they had from a personnel standpoint.

Who played a lot, and why? Did the snaps mean anything or nothing? We examine below:

Offense (76 snaps)

  • LG Tyler Shatley: 76 (100%)
  • C Luke Fortner: 76 (100%)
  • RG Brandon Scherff: 76 (100%)
  • RT Anton Harrison: 76 (100%)
  • QB Trevor Lawrence: 76 (100%)
  • WR Calvin Ridley: 72 (95%)
  • TE Evan Engram: 68 (89%)
  • WR Zay Jones: 64 (84%)
  • RB Travis Etienne: 59 (78%)
  • OL Blake Hance: 52 (68%)
  • WR Parker Washington: 47 (62%)
  • LT Ezra Cleveland: 26 (34%)
  • TE Luke Farrell: 23 (30%)
  • RB D'Ernest Johnson: 20 (26%)
  • WR Tim Jones: 10 (13%)
  • TE Josh Pederson: 7 (9%)
  • WR Elijah Cooks: 7 (9%)
  • RB Tank Bigsby: 1 (1%)
  1. Tank Bigsby hasn't played more than two snaps in a game since Week 10. We are now at the point where Josh Pederson is getting more snaps than him, with Pederson having more snaps on Sunday than Bigsby has had over the last three weeks. You simply can't burn a third-round pick like that.
  2. Blake Hance stepped in at left tackle in the place of Ezra Cleveland. Hance has now played 75 snaps at left tackle over the last two weeks, allowing 10 pressures in the process -- with eight coming on Sunday.
  3. Parker Washington got plenty of run as Christian Kirk's immediate replacement in the offense, though he was targeted just three times on Sunday despite playing over half the snaps.

Defense (76 snaps)

  • ILB Foyesade Oluokun: 76 (100%)
  • ILB Devin Lloyd: 76 (100%)
  • S Rayshawn Jenkins: 74 (97%)
  • CB Montaric Brown: 70 (92%)
  • OLB Josh Allen: 65 (86%)
  • CB Darious Williams: 63 (83%)
  • OLB Travon Walker: 62 (82%)
  • FS Andre Cisco: 55 (72%)
  • DL Roy Robertson-Harris: 53 (70%)
  • DL Adam Gotsis: 39 (51%)
  • CB Gregory Junior: 32 (42%)
  • DL Jeremiah Ledbetter: 28 (37%)
  • DL Dawuane Smoot: 27 (36%)
  • DL DaVon Hamilton: 26 (34%)
  • FS Andrew Wingard: 25 (33%)
  • DB Antonio Johnson: 20 (26%)
  • DL Angelo Blackson: 18 (24%)
  • DL Tyler Lacy: 10 (13%)
  • OLB K'Lavon Chaisson: 7 (9%)
  • ILB Chad Muma: 6 (8%)
  • SS Daniel Thomas: 4 (5%)
  1. The Jaguars had to play all five safeties on Sunday after injuries to Rayshawn Jenkins and Andre Cisco. Daniel Thomas only got a handful of snaps, but Andrew Wingard played over a quarter of the snaps.
  2. Chaisson, Smoot, Hamilton, Blackson, Ledbetter, Gotsis combined for zero pressures and zero quarterback hits on a combined 85 pass-rush snaps.
  3. Antonio Johnson was arguably the Jaguars' top impact defender on Sunday, recording a forced fumble, a sack, and a third-down pass-breakup on just 20 snaps.
